Giorgione (& Titian), Dresden Venus
1510
Completed by Titian after Giorgione's death, this influenced Titian's Venus & then Manet's Olympia.
Titian completed the landscape and the sky. Just as Titian would paint his Venus of Urbino in the future, there is the distinct placement of her hand covering and her raised arm. This work influenced Titian, Ruben, Ingres, and of course, Manet. The Dresden Venus is considered influential in being the first full, large-sized and sole figure of a female nude in painting.
