Although Muslims do not consider Muhammad the creator of Islam, he is the prophet who received revelations from God. These revelations are recorded as the Qur'an, the religious text of Islam. He preached to the people and became a religious, political, and military leader. By 629, Muhammad had conquered Mecca in a peaceful and bloodless battle.
