Phase II: Annually recurring specialized festivals
10-1970 - 1990
C’70 marked the end of the post-war reconstruction series. In this new era, post-war reconstruction and large scale events were valued less. In 1968 a time of innovation, internationalization and democratization began. Festivals were its focus. The director of the Rotterdamse Kunststichting, A.J. van der Staaij, was convinced that the world port city of Rotterdam would truly benefit from international and avant garde cultural politics. Based on his idea three organisations were founded: Film International (later IFFR), Poetry International and Architecture International.
