Star Trek is an American science fiction entertainment series and media franchise. The Star Trek fictional universe created by Gene Roddenberry is the setting of six television series including the original 1966 Star Trek, in addition to ten feature films with an eleventh completed to be released on May 7, 2009 (May 8 in North America). The franchise also extends to dozens of computer and video games, hundreds of novels and instances of fan fiction, several fan-created video productions, as well as a themed attraction in Las Vegas. Beginning with the original TV series and continuing with the subsequent films and series, the franchise has created a cult phenomenon and has spawned many pop culture references.

Star Trek (Engelse titel; Ned.: Sterrentocht) was oorspronkelijk een door Gene Roddenberry bedachte Amerikaanse sciencefiction-televisieserie die tussen 1966 tot 1969 werd uitgezonden. Uiteindelijk groeide het Star Trek-universum uit tot een succesvolle media-franchise met vijf televisieseries, een animatieserie, tien speelfilms, tientallen computerspellen en honderden boeken, stripboeken, technische handleidingen en encyclopedieën. Verder bestaat er sinds 1998 in Las Vegas een Star Trek-attractiepark, genaamd Star Trek: The Experience en worden er over de hele wereld regelmatig Star Trek-conventions georganiseerd: grote bijeenkomsten voor fans (de 'trekkies'), waar vaak acteurs uit de series te gast zijn.
