Baseball: 55 Home Runs In One Season
Baseball is a sport played between two teams of nine players each. The goal is to score runs by hitting the ball with a bat and touching four bases that are ninety feet a part. Players on one team (the batting team) take turns hitting against the pitcher of the other team (the fielding team), which tries to stop them from scoring runs by getting hitters out in many ways. A player on the batting team can stop at any of the bases and later advance when a teammate hits the ball. The teams switch between batting and fielding whenever the fielding team records three outs. One turn at bat for each team is one inning; nine innings make up a professional game. The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins.
In baseball, a home run is scored when the ball is hit over the fence. The batter is able to circle all the bases, ending at home plate and scoring runs for himself and each runner who was already on base. There are many home run legends in baseball, such as, Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Roger Maris, and Babe Ruth.
