The History of Medical Marijuana
Countries all over the world have recognized the benefits of marijuana for centuries. The Hemp plant itself has been used for everything from fabric and rope to ethanol fuel. Propaganda released to sway the publics opinion against Marijuana became prevalent in the mid to late 1930’s. Between 1937 and 1947, the government spent 0 million on the war against drugs. Between 1948 and 1963, the cost of this "war" on marijuana alone escalated to .5 billion. From 1964 to 1969 the government spent billion on the war against marijuana, a price tag that continues to rise. Proposition 215 passed in 1996 providing a new hope for patients who sought out a more natural form of medication and relief. Here in Sacramento, California we now have 39 registered dispensaries that have the opportunity to serve our patients and provide them with a new standard in quality natural medication that can be obtained in a safe, professional environment.
