The Carolingian Dynasty is seen as the founders of Germany and France.   The Carolingian Empire can be viewed as the later part of the Frankish Realm, or the early part of the Holy Roman Empire.  The Carolingian Empire lasted from 623 to 911.  The Carolingian Empire included what is now Germany and France, and some other land in what is now Europe.
