April 13th, 1743 - Thomas Jefferson was born to Jane Randolph Jefferson (came from one of the first families of virginia) and Peter jefferson (a well to do land owner)

1760-1762- Thomas Jefferson attended the college of William and Mary, then studied law with George Wythe.

1769- Jefferson began six years of service as a representative in the Viirginia house of Burgesses

Jan 1, 1772- Jefferson married Martha Wayles Skeleton, they beared six children

1774- Jeffersons reputation began to reach beyond Virginia when he wrote a political pamphlet - a summary view of the rights of British Amercians

June 11, 1776- Jefferson was elected second continental congress meeting in philidelphia to head a committee of five preparing to sign the Decleration of Independence

June 1779- Jefferson was elected governor of Virginia

Sept. 6, 1782- Death date of Jefferson's wife Martha adding to his troubles but by the following yearJefferson was seated again in congress.

1796- Jefferson welcomed Wasington decision not to run for a third term, Jefferson became the reluctant presidential candidate of the Democratic - Republican party

July 4th, 1826- The 50th anniversary of the Declaration Of Independence. Jefferson died at Monticello.
