The advancements in Transportation have came a long way since 3000 BC when wheels on carts and horses were all that were being used.   If we didn't have these famous mechanics our automobiles, planes, helicopters and boats would be nothing compared to what they have become today.  Most means of transportation during 3500 BC was made to ship goods from place to place.  Not until 2000 BC were passengers receiving some sort of transportation, and all of the achievements then led to the amazing means of transportation we see today.  The world we live in now would have been impossible without these innovations of transportation.  There would not have been any great massive productions if transportation was incompetent.  If there were no huge trucks, bulldozers, trailers, cargo ships or large aircrafts to carry them places the world wouldn't have kept up with these fast changing times.  Nothing would be the same without our advanced means of transportation today.
