This timeline illustrates historical events in the United States that took place during Urrea's life and may have also had an impact on his writing.  Although previous events in U.S. history undoubtedly have had an impact on more current events, I will use this time line to address the ongoing events throughout Urrea's life rather than an extensive timeline including all significant events in U.S. history.
