Title IX was passed as a federal law to help women athletes have the same amoutn of opporutinites as men atheletes. Title IX is housed in the office of civil rights in teh United States Department of Education. Title IX helps protect women athletes by keeping track of the school's compliance. There was a point when women were not accepted into sports and without Title IX, it would be still difficult for women to compete in sports.
