Since time itself began, there has been one constant variable that no one or no thing has ever been exempt from: Death. Eventually, all that ever is and will be eventually breaks down, wears out, and figuratively dies. This happens on a cosmic scale, ranging from the stars in the universe to the microscopic bacteria that lives within our bodies. With this thought in mind, man has attempted to heal himself since he began to cognitively understand this concept. From as early back as 2 millions years ago, before the modern humanoid came to be, remains have been found of early medicine and healing. Whether it was by administrating herbs, plants, remedies, sorcery and magic, surgery, science, experimentation, psychology and technology, man has sought even consciously to escape death and pain. Ages later we still have yet to thwart death all together, but certainly with the constant seeking of new and better knowledge of medicine, we at least can continue to make the life that we are given better, and certainly longer. In this timeline, we take a look at the Ancient History of Medicine so that we may have a better understanding of where our advances in such medicine began.
