War is the same, whether fought with bronze spears or a Predator drone. The motivations are the same, lust for conquest, protection of home or honor. The are the same reasons war is being fought today. Are women the same today? Obviously they are treated differently, but are the same motivations there? These are examples from modern culture that might be viewed similarly as the women described in The Iliad.
